“I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me shall never hunger and he that believes in me shall never thirst.” Jn.6:35
There are some basics that we all need in order to live. Two of the primary basics are water and bread (food). But very often when we think of food, we think mainly of our physical selves. We tend to forget that our spiritual selves also need food, and that the spirit, unlike the physical body, will live on forever. Therefore we need to take special care of our spiritual selves – our souls.
Jesus is the expert on giving advice about the spiritual food that we need. He says He is the “bread” and the “water.” Simple!! Believe that Jesus is all that He claims to be –Son of God, equal to God, the Messiah who came and died to be the Savior of the world. Then follow Him as a good and grateful disciple by allowing His Words to affect your daily life. He will take care of all your thirst and hunger!
Jesus also gives us abundant and eternal life: “Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give will never thirst. The water that I give will be in you a fountain of water springing up into eternal life.” John 4:14
Whatever we need, as Christians, God has provided. His provisions are gifts that should first be accepted, and then unwrapped and used. And don’t forget that the Holy Spirit within you has been given a specific role by God – to help you!
