Continuing.........
“ As the Father has loved me , so have I loved you: Continue (abide) in my love.”
- John 15:9
As the time drew near for Jesus to be arrested and crucified, He said some of the most amazing and indescribable things to His disciples – things that came from the depth of His heart of unequalled Love.
Jesus encouraged His disciples (and all of us) to abide in His love and He also told them how they could do this. He continued: “If you keep my commandments you shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in His love.”
Therefore the key to abiding in His love is obedience to His words. We are also given another tip by St. Paul: “….Continue in prayer.” (Romans 12:12) and “Continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and be not moved away from the hope of the Gospel…” (Colossians 1:23).
Also “Continue in prayer and watch in the same with thanksgiving.” (Colossians 4:2). Then in Hebrews 13:1 we are told “Let brotherly love continue……”
So we are without excuse – we are told to do and to do it.
