Getting Answers

“If God spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, is it possible that He would not, along with His Son, also freely give us all things?”                                    Romans8:32

We can be sure that a loving God gives us only the best: “If you, who are capable of evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to them that ask Him?” And God started by giving us His Son, thus establishing a Father-child relationship in which we have free and continual access to our Father, God.

We can therefore approach God confidently with our requests and supplications. But is this all we have to do? Or are there guidelines? There are, and they come from Christ Himself: “If you abide in Me and my Words abide in you, you can ask what you wish and you will have it.” Also in John 15:16 Jesus says: …. “I have ordained you that you should bring forth fruit, the kind of fruit that is of eternal value, so that whatsoever you shall ask of the Father in my name, He may give it to you.”

Such are the conditions attached. Wherever the Bible teaches about prayer, it mentions certain conditions which people sometimes ignore and believe that God should give them whatever they ask. Such prayers will end in disappointment.  God has a perfect plan for each of us and is anxious to give us all that we need to achieve. God’s intention is for us to have “abundant life” here and now. But we have the responsibility to travel along the path that God points out especially in His Word; we have to be obedient and imitate Christ. Only then can we ask anything “in His Name”. It is only when we are walking with God, that we are positioning ourselves to understand, to ask, and to accept God’s gifts to us: “Blessed be the Lord Who daily loads us with benefits.” Let us try to live closer to God, to obey Him, to bring forth fruit and please Him so that we can know what to ask God for, and get it!!                               Al Jones
