CONVERGE Ministry at Spirit of Joy

CONVERGE is a ministry of Spirit of Joy that receives and distributes food donations to area pantries that serve the homeless and impoverished in East Orlando.

Each year, with the generous donations of WaterfordCAN and Eastwood, we tens of thousands of pounds of canned goods and non-perishables to FaithUMC and Woodbury Presbyterian Pantry’s as well as Samaritan Resource Center. WaterfordCAN also donates complete ham dinners for both Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. For each holiday, over 100 meals were provided in 2018.

CONVERGE has been a successful ministry at Spirit of Joy for many years, but we need help to continue our mission. The commitment is just one hour, one or two days per month. The first Saturday and Sunday of each month we receive and distribute the generous donations from Waterford and Eastwood communities.

The work we do with CONVERGE is somewhat physical. So, we need as many volunteers as possible to help this ministry continue and grow. Thousands of families each year are blessed by what CONVERGE contributes to the food pantries, the impact is real and needed.

This is a wonderful opportunity for our teens to acquire Community Service hours as well. We are happy to welcome our youth to this all-important mission of feeding the hungry.
